Pier Vini Barbaresco Vila Riserva DOCG 2007

R 655.00

The winery is situated about seven kilometres from Alba, the Langhe's capital, and more precisely in Treiso, a village with a great wine vocation. The wines produced here come from renowned vineyards which have always been property of the Grasso's family.

The grapes grow and ripen in the prestigious suri of this region situated in the immediate vicinity of the Grasso's wine cellar, from where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the hillsides crowned by the Alps - where the Monviso stands out majestically - all the way down to Alba.

COUNTRY: Italy

REGION: Piemonte

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo, from the Pajorè, Nicolini and Tre Stelle vineyards.

VINIFICATION: Harvest and grape crushing in September/October with soft grape de-stemming followed by a 10-15 day maceration with manual punching down and pumping over. Natural fermentation in stainless steel wine vats at a controlled temperature. Refined for 36 months in large oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle before release.

CHARACTERISTICS: This Barbaresco has a very bright ruby red colour. It is dense and dry with delicate fruit, floral tones of violet, dried flowers, liquorice and juniper berries. The flavour is full bodied, warm, with a long and velvety finish. It goes well with red meat, strong sauces and aged cheeses. Serving temperature 16-18°C in large-bowled glasses. This wine ages superbly.
